Poem: Sound The Alarm

Sound the Alarm

Sound the alarm! Our children are dying in the streets
At the hands of their brothers, not the men in white sheets
They are gunned down in cold blood without a second thought
Not hung by the rivers after being chased down and caught
Sound the alarm! Our children are taking each other’s lives
Spraying bullets in a crowd and wouldn’t care if no one survives
They are not afraid to die, so they think its all fair game
They can kill you with no remorse and not even know your name
Sound the alarm! Our children are killing each other
Our babies are dying on the streets, one after another
Somehow they have lost hope and have no plan for this life
Living their life on the edge and inflicting misery and strife
Sound the alarm! Our children are in need of our helping hand
We cannot take the sideline on this, we must take a stand
We have fought for our freedom and justice for all
Now we must fight for our children or as a people we will fall
Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm!
